Workflow

A workflow is a connected set of processing steps, their settings and inputs. In ComfyUI it is a node graph that can be saved and shared.

Illustrative example

A video workflow loads an image, generates frames and writes an output file.

A workflow describes what should happen and how data moves between steps. In ComfyUI, links connect compatible outputs and inputs; settings control individual nodes. The official workflow guide explains saving the graph as JSON.

Keep the workflow separate from its dependencies and results. The graph may refer to models, custom nodes and media that are not inside the JSON. The dependency guide lists these requirements.

When receiving a workflow, ask for expected versions, model filenames, input requirements and an example of the intended output. Preserve those details with your copy. Embedded workflow metadata can help recover settings, but converted or stripped images may not retain it. A screenshot of boxes is useful for explanation; it is not a usable replacement for the graph file.
